Snap Thursday: Roxborough Park

I went to Roxborough State Park earlier this month to test out the my new Sigma WA lens. It was cold and snow-packed. Took me forever to walk around one of their shortest trail, but I did it and came back home with a hundred pictures.
So I will be showing pictures from my short walk in the next several weeks. I hope you guys will like them.

Snap Thursday: Lights

I have been slacking on my photography. The weather has been cold so I've been spending most of my free time knitting by the fireplace. This is one of my stashed photos. I took it last Fall, when the weather just started to get cooler at night. I wanted to play with low shutter speed and moving cars. It was really fun to do and I like the result.

Snap Thursday: Tall buildings

Santa (aka. hubby) a new lens for Christmas: Sigma 10-20mm.  I have not had a chance to play around much with it. But I did take a couple of shots when we were in downtown over the weekend.

Snap Thursday: Bunny

It was pretty cold last week. We had a couple of days of snow and over the weekend the temperature was only in the teens.

On Sunday morning I looked out my front window to see the snow and to my surprise there is a little bunny taking cover there.

It opened its eyes for a second to look at me and then closed it again.

Snap Thursday: Seeing through

I had a lovely time last Thanksgiving weekend. Ate a lot and knit a lot. While taking pictures of my knitted projects, I noticed an interesting view through the viewfinder of my camera. That is, the coffee table, the wooden board on the coffee table, and the couch in the background.

So I did what any wannabe photographer would do. I took a picture of it.

While I like the photo above, I felt something was missing. So I took off my glasses, set it on the wooden board, and took a photo of the glasses.

I like this shot much better, :). It is funny to see the bit of the couch through my glasses.

Snap Thursday: Cowl

Happy "almost" Friday everyone!

I have been so lazy with the blog post lately and that is because I've been busy with my other hobby: knitting. Here is a photo of my latest finished project.

I love this cowl! I have been wearing it every day. It is very soft and it keeps me warm.

The pattern is Purl Ridge Scarf from Ravelry . The yarn is madelinetosh tosh vintage. I used about 1.3 skeins of it.

Snap Thursday: Snowy cabin

Less than a week after I took the fall color photos, it snowed!

It's the wet kind of snow that is so beautiful because it stayed on the trees. This is a picture of someone's house in the city. I love it because it totally looked like it's a cabin in the mountains.

Snap Thursday: Sidewalk

Fall is here and gone. The leaves have turned color and the trees are getting bald.

I captured these at the right time, as a few days later the temperature dropped and all those golden yellow leaves turned brown and unattractive.

Here is an up close photo of the leaves.

Snap Thursday: Mushrooms

Inspiration comes from everywhere. I saw a black and white photo of mushrooms by a professional photographer a while back and I thought, aha! I want to try that too. His was of sliced mushrooms but I thought I'd try the whole ones. I think this is one of those few vegetables that looks awesome in B&W.

Snap Thursday: Full moon

While driving home last night, I was trying to decide which picture to post for this week's Snap Thursday and then I saw the full moon. There was space to pull over, so I did and I stood there taking several snapshots.

Here's a cropped view of the moon.

Snap Thursday: Waterfall

When I was taking pictures of the fall foliage last week, I hear some water flowing. Looking around a bit, I saw this. Not sure if this qualifies as a waterfall, as it is very short. But it was a good opportunity to practice water photography :).

Snap Thursday: Fall foliage

Fall is always a short season here. The trees seem to change color so fast and in a few weeks, it's gone. Not wanting to miss the photographic opportunity, I went for a walk yesterday. It was a really nice day, sunny and 70 degrees, and there are plenty of fall leaves to photography :).

Snap Thursday: Bokehlicious

According to Wikipedia, bokeh is "the blur, or the aesthetic quality of blur, or the way the lens renders out of focus points of lights."
My favorite bokeh pictures are flower pictures by Melissa Richards on Flickr (here and here). I would love to know how she does it (and if you ever figured out let me know :)).

So, at one of our favorite restaurants a couple of weeks ago, we happen to sit by the window, and I thought it's time to experiment. No flowers in sight and my bokeh are colorful but I like it :).

Snap Thursday: Pine tree branch, dreamy and antique

I'm on a roll. I have 4-5 different pictures that I like and it was hard to decide on which one to share first. So here it is: pine treee branch.
I thought they looked interesting enough to shoot. I love how they're protruding above the gate and the white gate with all the greenery looks nice. Then I decided to post process them differently. The 1st one is sorta dreamy and the 2nd one is antique-looking, like an old photo.

Snap Thursday: Path

I am liking BW picture more and more. This is taken when I went for a walk last week. The BW version looks much nicer than the color version.

Snap Thursday: Bench

I went for a walk and saw this bench. It doesn't look very interesting but I took a picture of it anyway. Then I came home and process the photo, it looks much more interesting then.

Hope you like it. Have a great Thursday!

Snap Thursday - Favorite Tomatoes

My favorite tomatoes are in season!!! They are smaller, rounder, way tastier than the usual grape tomatoes I've seen, but they are grape tomatoes.

They are so good! I ate them with salad or just pop them in my mouth as snack.

How about you? What is your favorite tomatoes?
